Since I started taking Accutane my nose has become very dry and the pores in my nose are darker. WHAT DO I DO?

Since i started taking accutane my nose (and face %26amp; lips) have become very dry and even peeling. Since then the pores on my nose have become more visible because they are dark for some reason (like blackheads or sumthing) I don%26#039;t know what it is...help!

And does any1 know what i can do to stop peeling?|||Like others have said, the dryness and peeling/flakiness is a side effect of Accutane. It might help you feel better to know that this means the Accutane is working...one of its purposes is to make your skin less oily even a long time after you stop taking it. It will be just right - not oily and not dry - when you are done taking it.

Use moisturizer, but not just any moisturizer. Get one that is marked as both oil-free and non-comedogenic (Neutrogena has some good ones). No matter how the bottle is labeled, check the ingredients to make sure mineral oil is not in there. Mineral oil is often believed to be non-comedogenic, and sometimes it is, but it all depends on the source of the mineral oil; some mineral oils used in health/beauty products come from a slightly polluted source and this pollution leads to breakouts in some people.

This might sound crazy, but if nothing else works, honey might help. It%26#039;s sticky, yes, but it is a good moisturizer. Leave it on for maybe 20-25 minutes, to give it time to soak into your skin, and then wash it off.

Moisturizer alone won%26#039;t get rid of the peeling. In fact, nothing is going to COMPLETELY get rid of the peeling. In order for Accutane to do its job, layers of your skin are going to have to come off, so peeling is inevitable. But don%26#039;t give up hope - there is help.

I took Accutane at one point and I found that trying to scrub off the flakes with a washcloth only creates more flakes...and irritates your skin. Skin irritation can lead to further breakouts, so you want to try not to use any harsh product, material, or motion on your skin. It%26#039;s best not to use a washcloth; just use clean hands to wash your face. Rub gently.

The gentlest way to exfoliate (remove peeling skin/flakes) is to apply a LOT of moisturizer and then rub that gently and try to scrape off the flakes using the moisturizer as the substance between your fingers and your face. I had to do that a lot. It takes patience because it takes a while, but at least it helps.

While you%26#039;re on Accutane, you have to live with SOME skin flakes...it is not completely avoidable...but you can get rid of some of them by doing what I just said to do, with moisturizer.

If you feel the need to use some cloth to wash your face, get an oil-free wipe (like baby wipes but most of them have oil in them; Walmart makes wipes that are a generic equivalent of Ponds face wipes, that are oil-free and good) and use that, but don%26#039;t use a washcloth - they are too abrasive. Accutane makes your skin very sensitive, while you are on it, and you don%26#039;t want to do anything to damage your skin.

I really hope this helps!|||It%26#039;s suppose to really dry your skin.

Use lots of lotion.

And the chance of you getting sunburned is much worse.

Your lips will be really crusty and dry.

Don%26#039;t use Chapstick cause that just dries your lips out even more.

Try Blistex.|||use moistureizer/lotion, the reason that accutane is doing this is because a feww of the side affects include:

-excessive dryness of the skin

-and the fact that before acne gets any better with this treatment it must get worse.

(hence the blackheads)|||EITHER STOP TAKING IT OR BUY SOME AVEENO MOISTURIZER FOR IT
